Start with the existing valve
The fastest route to a useful answer is a clear record of what is already installed. Photograph the valve from two or three angles in good light, including any markings stamped on the body.
- A straight-on view of the outlet connection
- A view showing the inlet thread where it enters the cylinder
- A close-up of any stamped markings or codes
Confirm the gas and the application
The gas determines much of the specification. Record the gas, its typical working pressure, and whether the cylinder is used for filling, distribution or end use. If the cylinder handles more than one gas over its life, note that too.
Record the connection information
Inlet thread and outlet connection are the two details that most often decide whether a valve fits. If the standard is not stamped on the valve, record the physical measurements you can take and say they are measurements rather than a confirmed standard.
